Tom Pritchard began his musical journey at age ten when he started playing viola with his school orchestra. Since then, he has fostered a deep passion for playing and teaching music.
Tom earned his Bachelors of Music Education from the University of Rhode Island and his Masters in Music Education from VanderCook College of Music. His thesis paper topic was how to play and teach using a five-string violin. He has been teaching orchestra in public schools for eight years and is currently working in Fall River, Massachusetts.
He is an active board member for both the Massachusetts String Teacher Association, The Rhode Island Music Educators Association, and the Rhode Island Bluegrass Alliance. He is a 2019 Leadership Bluegrass Graduate and a Wintergrass Education Fellow. He performs with numerous bands, including “Greystone Rail”, voted Motif Magazine's "Best Rhode Island Bluegrass Band" for 2016 and 2017.
